That makes him excited about his new role as the behavioral health care coordinator and interpreter at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. Felix Alcover has assumed the role of behavioral health coordinator at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. �I was interested in the people that the behavioral health program works with,� he said. �I find it exciting to be exposed to different types of struggles and problems others have and be able to help them. I am eager to learn from working in this department.� Alcover, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, grew up in the small town of San German, Puerto Rico, before moving to the Sioux Center when he was 16. SIOUX CENTER � Promise Community Health Center executive director Nancy Dykstra has announced her plan to retire at the end of the year. As one of Promise�s founders, Dykstra has been the guiding hand of the health center since it opened nine years ago in Sioux Center. Nancy Dykstra, executive director for Promise Community Health Center, has announced her plan to retire at the end of 2017. She has directed the health center since it opened in 2008. She thinks the timing is right to pass on that leadership. �I feel that Promise is in a strong position for me to step aside and turn over the reins to new leadership,� Dykstra said. �I believe Promise will continue to grow and prosper and will continue to serve persons in ways that help them lead healthier and more productive lives.� Dykstra dedicated her career to community health. She now is excited to help make that happen as a new dental assistant and interpreter at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. Raquel Bautista has assumed the role of dental assistant and interpreter at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. SIOUX CENTER � Promise Community Health Center has gradually transformed the interior of its downtown Sioux Center building since opening in 2008. Nine years later, the former bowling alley building now is full. The health center recently completed a 2,200-square-foot interior expansion and remodeling project that filled the remaining vacant space in the west portion of the building. Schelling Construction of Sioux Center served as the general contractor. A group of Sioux Center Middle School eighth- graders use Promise Community Health Center's new community education/conference room for a presentation. SIOUX CENTER � Many families take buying baby necessities such as diapers, baby wipes and pacifiers for granted. Sioux Center Middle School seventh-graders Rachel Leusink, Annika Jahn and Tessa Vonk were among the students who assembled Baby Bundles for Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center. But some families struggle to afford these items. A group of seventh-graders at Sioux Center Middle School took it upon themselves to help out these families as their May Term project. They collected donations of various baby items and packed 20 Baby Bundles full of the necessary items. They donated the bags to Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center to provide to moms who have a special need for the items after the birth of their baby. SIOUX CENTER � Truckers now have another option when it comes to getting their Department of Transportation medical exam completed. Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center is offering DOT physicals as a new service. Nurse practitioner Roleen Walgenbach will offer DOT physicals as a new service for Promise Community Health Center. Roleen Walgenbach � who will begin serving at Promise as a part-time nurse practitioner on Friday, May 19, and who is a certified medical examiner for commercial motor vehicle drivers � will provide the service 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on the first and third Fridays of each month.
